Dr. Aysha Akhtar
Aysha Akhtar, M.D., M.P.H., is a double board-certified neurologist and preventive medicine and public health specialist on a mission. She is demonstrating how there is a mutual benefit to both humans and animals when animals are protected. She is the author of the upcoming book, “Our Symphony With Animals: On Health, Empathy, and Our Shared Destinies.”
Her prior book, “Animals and Public Health: Why treating animals better is critical to human welfare,” examines how the treatment of animals impacts human health. In her TED Talk, she discusses how treating animals better is not only good for animals, but also good for us. Dr. Akhtar has spoken and written extensively on the connection between animal protection and human health.
